Service Description
Overview: This Summer Book Club is designed for 4th and 5th graders who want to strengthen reading skills while enjoying great books in a fun, supportive group setting. Sessions are discussion-based and highly engaging, helping students build confidence, comprehension, and a love of reading—while preventing the dreaded summer slide. Each meeting blends meaningful literary discussion with creative, hands-on activities that bring books to life. Session Structure Includes: Book Talk & Discussion – Guided conversations to build comprehension, vocabulary, and speaking confidence Guided Analysis – Creative strategies such as role-playing scenes, visual aids, and character perspective work Hands-On Projects – Journaling, character analysis, dioramas, alternate endings, and themed projects Real-World Connections – Linking stories to students' experiences to deepen understanding and engagement Days: Tuesdays Dates: June 23rd, June 30th, July 7th, July 14th, July 21st, July 28th, August 4th, August 11th, August 25th (no class August 18th; total of 9 sessions) Time: 4:00 pm Location: Randolph Library (sessions will be held outdoors, weather permitting) Price: $585
